BeckmanConnect IT Security Update

TeamViewer, a component of BeckmanConnect, reported a security incident in June 2024 affecting its internal servers. However, TeamViewer confirmed on their trust center page that systems mediating remote sessions or storing customer system ID or serial information were not compromised. Additionally, customer enrollment names and email addresses are stored on Beckman servers, which have not been impacted by any security incidences.

As outlined in the BeckmanConnect Security documentation available at www.beckman.com/Beckmanconnect, the version of TeamViewer utilized with BeckmanConnect incorporates several security mechanisms to prevent unauthorized access, including:

  • Restricted Access: Only Beckman employees with two-factor authentication located in the support region have access. All other individuals are denied access, even if they possess the TeamViewer ID and password.
  • Controlled Viewing and Remote Control: Access to TeamViewer screen viewing and remote control requires approval via an on-screen prompt before permission is granted.
  • Dynamic Passwords: The password for TeamViewer connections is set to 8 characters and changes after each use.
  • File Transfer Restrictions: File transfer through TeamViewer on medical device equipment is disabled, even for Beckman employees. For non-medical devices, file transfer is only permitted after the customer approves an on-screen prompt.

Beckman has implemented numerous safeguards to ensure the secure use of BeckmanConnect's remote components. A review of our logs confirms no unauthorized access to our remote systems. Continued use of this product should be considered safe and secure. We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of security and will continue to monitor and enhance our systems to protect our customers' data and ensure the integrity of our services.
